A patient could collapse on any premises at any time, whether they have received treatment or not. It is therefore essential that all registrants must be trained in dealing with medical emergencies, including resuscitation, and possess up to date evidence of capability (GDC 2024).

Our Dental Basic Life Support and Medical Emergencies course includes all General Dental Council, General Dental Association and RCUK recommended topics, qualifies for 3 hours of enhanced CPD and meets the GDC Development outcome ‘C’.

This session is delivered within your surgery for up to 10 members of staff and we advise both clinical and non-clinical staff to attend.

For more information, check out the table below.  To book your course, complete the contact form below.

During the course, you will develop the knowledge and skills required to manage:

  • A-E Assessment of the acutely unwell patient
  • Medical Emergency Equipment / Medicines
  • Choking
  • Asthma
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Sepsis
  • Adrenal Crisis
  • Cardiac Emergencies

The Dental Basic Life Support and Medical Emergencies Course is intended for all staff working in a Dental Practice.  We encourage the attendance of both clinical and non-clinical staff to encourage a whole team approach in the management of emergencies.  This course will be beneficial for:

  • Dentists
  • Dental Nurses
  • Dental Hygienists
  • Dental Technicians
  • Dental Therapists
  • Receptionists
  • Practice Management

Our expert trainer will arrive around one hour before the course commences to set up equipment and prepare for the course.  Where possible we will utilise a surgery space for practical activity and a non-clinical space, such as the waiting room for theoretical teaching.

This course is delivered over 3-hours with a 15 minute mid-session break.

Having demonstrated effective use of the required practical skills all attendees will receive a certificate from Immerse Medical detailing all information required by the GDC.

The course was very enjoyable and instructive. I really appreciated the practical assessments as they felt real and more importantly well driven. 9/10 would do it again.

Simon delivered a very comprehensive course and one which was relevant and funny too which meant it was engaging. After enduring many years of courses within the emergency services, being delivered by a trainer rather than a medical professional, this course was refreshing. I couldn’t recommend them highly enough and would happily attend another course with them in the future.

We took the 3 day First Aid at Work course. The training was very good and Immerse made sure that we all understood each part before moving on to the next stage. There was a good mix of practical to keep us interested. We all passed with flying colours. Thanks
